the lesser of two evils

It is a rainy Sunday – really rainy. I caught the morning news and saw the devastation from tornadoes, the continued struggle in Myanmar following the Cyclone, political spin doctors working it, and whatever else was pumped through the boob-tube. I once turned my TV off for three days over a holiday weekend; it was a huge struggle for me to endure the silence of the first two days. I couldn’t believe how much I had become a TV zombee. I guess, it is much easier to veg out on talking heads than it is to listen to my own internal dialogue. When I let that get going who knows where it will lead? I’ve read my fair share of beat writings. I love them for the way it connects with me and my warped mind. I’m certain that Kerouac would go crazier in today’s messy world. I hope to take lines from great writers of the beat generation and riff them in the light of now. But, first I have to finish watching this 1990’s re-run political conspiracy drama on cable.
